Friday Wine Tasting – With Some Cheese

It’s Friday and that means Tinnell’s Friday afternoon wine tasting. Today we’re tasting Colutta ORG Pinot Grigio, M. Lawrence Sex Rose (sparkling NV), and Varal Tinto,

The Pinot Grigio, a highly crafted white wine from Italy, has aromas of apple blossoms and quince, with underpinnings of bitter almonds. The wine is produced in Colli Orientali and is influenced by the breeze from the Adriatic.

The Sparkling Wine has a pink hue, red fruit aromas and a soft style. It’s a blend of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Muscat grapes that are handpicked and carefully whole-cluster pressed. The juice is fermented in stainless steel tanks, then blended with reserve wines and fermented a second time in a closed tank.

The 2013 Hmr Varal, a Portuguese red wine, is made by Herdade do Monte da Ribeira from the region of Alentejo. It’s made of 2013 grapes and has an alcoholic content of 13 percent.

Take home one – or all – of these wines for the weekend. And, don’t forget the Grammy Awards on Sunday. Our Simply Cheddar cheese ball is a perfect accompaniment.
