August send-off with delicious brews

August is nearly gone: can you believe it? Sounds like the perfect excuse to taste some brews down at Tinnell’s!

Blue Mountain Full NelsonWhether you’re making the best of labor day weekend on the water, or love to use cans for target practice, this canned pale ale is the perfect pick. Bursting with local hop flavor, Blue Mountain’s flagship Virginia Pale Ale features their own farm-grown Cascade variety hops as one of the key ingredients. A strong malt backbone gives this ale a rich taste and vibrant copper color, while the generous addition of hops contribute a pronounced bitterness and floral, citrus aroma.

Foudners Double TroubleFounders only makes good beer, and this week we’re sampling their 100pts rated Double Trouble! This imperial IPA was brewed to turn your world upside down. Hops will get you coming and going. Pungent aromatics up front pair with a malt-balanced backbone and a smooth, bitter finish. With 9.4% alcohol, this four-pack will get you there!

Abbaye Val-Dieu Grand CruNext at only 98pts (wow!) we have Val Dieu Grand Cru, a Belgian Quadrupel style beer brewed by Brasserie de l’Abbaye du Val-Dieu in Aubel, Belgium. The newest masterpiece from the Val-Dieu brewery; a very complex and full-bodied beer with a long aftertaste. The brewmaster advices to cellar the beer for a year for it to unfold its full potential. Good news: ours is coming up on a year old!

Samuel Smith's Organic Chocolate StoutAnd now for a cult favorite: Samuel Smith’s Organic Chocolate Stout! Rated 97pts, this stout is the perfection of chocolate in beer. Brewed with well water (the original well, sunk in 1758, is still in use with the hard water is drawn from 85 feet underground), the gently roasted organic chocolate malt and organic cocoa impart a delicious, smooth and creamy character, with inviting deep flavors and a delightful finish – this is the perfect marriage of satisfying stout and luxurious chocolate.
